Daniel T. O’Brien is a poet, editor, and interdisciplinary artist. His creative and critical work has recently appeared in American Literary Review, Boston Review, DIAGRAM, Kenyon Review, and VINYL, among other venues. Daniel received an MFA in poetry from the Ohio State University, where he was awarded a Helen Earnhart Harley Creative Writing fellowship. He also served as poetry editor for The Journal literary magazine, and as managing editor for the Ohio State University Press prize series. Most recently, he edited a limited-release poetry anthology, Poems of Resistance, Poems of Hope in support of the national Independent Bookstore Day campaign.
Daniel has previously served on the steering committee of the Lower Hudson Valley Democratic Socialists and was a founding member of the Peekskill Equitable Housing Coalition. He was named a 2022 Publisher’s Weekly Star Watch honoree for his work with the American Booksellers Association.
Daniel was a 2025 Faculty Fellow at Social Practice CUNY, and has taught literature, creative writing, and composition at the Ohio State University, the City University of New York, and Pace University. He currently serves as a literary arts and non-profit consultant for The Independent Publishers Caucus, the Association of American Literary Agents, and Books Across Borders.
